I just logged onto bloggersunite.org (great site, if any of you have a blog) and noticed they're hosting an event today to encourage people to donate to a food bank or give food to a family you know is in need.
So, I'm passing on the information to my readers. Even if you're short on money yourself, surely you can afford a can of soup or something, and every little bit helps. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to get out of the house today, you still have no excuse. Aidmatrix is a virtual food drive that allows you to donate food or money without leaving your computer. Just ad whatever items you want to your cart (there are a few non-perishable foods as well as $20 and $50 donations) and pay for them online. Then the company will buy them and distribute them to the charities.
There is a disclaimer on Aidmatrix saying that all the money you give them will be used to purchase things for those in need, but the actual items bought might vary. So if you're dead set on giving a can of tuna instead of a can of fruit cocktail, you'll have to go to the store yourself.
